1. What Personal Information Do We Collect?
Okooloo may gather personal information about you in several ways: directly from you, from other users of our app, through technology that collects data from your browser or device, and from third-party sources. Examples of the types of data we may collect are provided below. Please note that not all Okooloo account types or features are available in every location, so some examples might not apply to your area. This list is not exhaustive—other personal information may also be collected in line with this Privacy Policy. We may share additional details about our data collection practices in specific situations or when we collect information from you. All personal information collected will be handled and used in compliance with this Privacy Policy.

1.1 Personal Information We May Collect From You
Your Personal Information
When signing up for okooloo, you may be required to provide specific details such as your name, email address, and physical address. In some regions, additional information like your date of birth or other data may be necessary to verify your age. You can also choose to share further personal information at any time, such as a profile photo, your gender, date of birth, ethnicity, and demographic details. Moreover, any information you choose to include in your Okooloo profile or share through posts or comments will be visible as described below.
When contacting our support team, we may collect your contact details along with information about your inquiry to assist you effectively.
Data From Other Accounts
If you log in to Okooloo using a third-party service, such as Facebook or Google and link your account to one of these platforms, you authorise the sharing of certain information with us. This may include your name, profile picture, email address, and any other details the third-party service permits. What is shared will depend on the settings and privacy practices of the third party, as well as your preferences.
Contact Lists
You can choose to sync or share your contact list with Okooloo, which may include names, email addresses, physical addresses, and phone numbers. Alternatively, you can manually enter your contacts to invite them to join Okooloo. This helps us identify contacts who are already on Okooloo, invite those who aren’t, notify you when they join, and personalise your experience.
Information You Share About Yourself and Your Community
You can share personal details in your profile, including interests, skills, household information, emergency contacts, or biographical details like your profession, hometown, and how long you’ve lived in your area.
You can also share content through Okooloo in various ways:

  • Location Information: Add your location to posts, for example, to indicate where an event is taking place or where an item is available for pickup.

  • Local Business Recommendations: Provide reviews, ratings, and comments, or create business pages to share your experiences.

  • Posts: Share text, photos, videos, events, or other content.

  • Direct Messages: Send text, photos, or videos directly to other users.

  • Groups and Events: Participate in groups and follow topics or neighbourhoods of interest.

Payment Information
If you make a payment through okooloo, your payment details (such as card information) will be handled by our third-party payment processors, like Stripe, to complete the transaction.
Messages and Communications
We collect data about your interactions with messages and emails, such as whether you open, read, or take action on them.
Images and Photos
If you allow Okooloo to access your device’s camera or photo library, we may collect images, videos, and related metadata (e.g., date, time, and location of file creation). This metadata may also be visible to other users who access your shared files.
Geolocation
You can choose to grant okooloo access to your device’s location, which can be used to confirm your address, personalize your experience, and enhance features like tagging posts or adding location details to maps.
Business Information
If you use okooloo’s business-related services, you may share details about your association with a business or the services you provide.
Booking Information
If you book a service through okooloo or a third party, you may provide details like search terms, the service type, job details, location, timing, costs, and associated communications.

1.2 Information We May Collect From Your Browser or Device
With your consent, where required by applicable laws, okooloo, along with its partners and service providers, gathers technical information when you use our app, interact with our partners, or engage with okooloo’s or our partners’ marketing materials. This includes:

With your permission, we may access your device’s geolocation data, or derive your general location (e.g., city, state, or geographic area) from your IP address or other available information. The data collected depends on your device and software settings.
Online Activity Information
This includes details such as the date and time you accessed okooloo, how long you used the app, the browser or app version and settings, the URLs or apps you came from and went to, and how you interacted with okooloo or its communications (e.g., emails or notifications). • If you search for a product or service on Okooloo, we might display related ads.

Additionally, our advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to gather information for targeted advertising. You can learn more about these practices in Section 3.4 and our Cookie Policy.

2.5 Innovation and Improvement
We use personal information for research and development purposes. This includes creating aggregated, de-identified, or anonymous data by removing details that could directly identify you or others. This anonymised data may be used internally or shared with third parties for legitimate business purposes, such as analysing and enhancing our services or promoting okooloo.

2.6 Additional Uses with Your Consent
With your explicit permission, we may use your personal information for purposes not outlined in this document but which may be explained within the app or other communications.

3. How Your Personal Information is Shared

To ensure trust and authenticity, we may share your personal information with verification partners, such as telecom providers or data verification services. For instance, if you confirm your account using your phone number, we may share that information to verify your identity.

3.3 Legal and Safety Obligations
In certain situations, we may retain, share, or disclose your personal information to law enforcement, government entities, or private parties if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations or respond to valid legal requests (e.g., subpoenas, search warrants, or court orders).

For example, we may share your information with emergency response teams, disaster relief organisations, or other relevant entities to aid in emergency or disaster management efforts.

3.4 Advertising and Promotions
When you interact with an advertisement or offer on okooloo—such as by clicking, replying, or engaging with it—we may share your response and limited information about you with the advertiser. This may include details like your name or contact information, but only with your consent. Additionally, we may track and share information about how you engage with ads to evaluate their effectiveness.
Okooloo is supported by advertisements, including those provided by third-party advertising networks. With your consent, our advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about your online behaviour over time. This data may include hashed emails or advertising identifiers and is used to deliver targeted ads both on okooloo and other platforms. These partners may associate this information with you through your advertising identifiers or other data they possess, enabling them to serve personalised ads and measure their effectiveness.

3.5 Collaborations with Third-Party Partners

To personalise service offers, we may share specific personal details with these third parties, such as your general location (e.g., neighbourhood or postal code), the subject of the content you’re viewing, or your search queries (e.g., searching for “electrician”). When you interact with these offers, either you or Okooloo may share additional details—like your contact information—directly with the third party or their representative.
If you proceed with a service through one of our third-party partners, they may share certain details with us to help us improve our services. This could include information such as the type of service booked, the provider’s name and address, booking time, or your communication with the third party.
